Town Awards CIP Grant to New Downtown Acton Business

HALTON HILLS, ON –Ward 1 Councillors recently presented a new Acton business, Zapa Projects, with a Community Improvement Program (CIP) Façade Improvement Grant in the amount of $7,395 to support renovations to their new storefront.

John and Kaylee O’Sullivan spent the summer refurbishing the old dance studio building at 17 Mill Street East in Acton into a coffee house and birthday party, event rental space. Building restorations included new paint to the front and back entrances, a new sign and retiling of the front entrance. “We are an Acton family hoping to have created a space the whole family feels welcome at and can enjoy. It has been great having grants focused on the restoration of downtown Acton.”

“They have done an incredible job with their renovation,” said Councillor Albano. “This is a warm and inviting space where the Halton Hills community can gather and host their special events,” added Councillor Hurst.

The CIP offers incentives to eligible businesses and organizations by providing grants and loan programs to encourage revitalization, attract additional private sector investment, fast-track the redevelopment of underutilized properties and support local jobs.

The Town of Halton Hills launched a new suite of programs under the CIP. Applications are currently being accepted and are based on eligibility and available funding.
