Halton Hills is strategically situated within one of the largest and most diverse Food and Beverage Processing (FBP) clusters in North America.

The FBP sector accounts for 5% of Halton Hills’ employment and the Town’s third, fourth and fifth largest employers are all in the FBP sector. Halton Hills’ locational advantage, combined with a strong and diverse urban core, proximity to agricultural production and an existing base of innovation, have led to the development of a significant FBP cluster that includes well-known multinational companies as well as SMEs.

Halton Hills’ location with the Greater Toronto Area and Greater Golden Horseshoe provides all of the elements needed to support a globally competitive FBP cluster. The Greater Golden Horseshoe is globally renowned as a vibrant food and farming cluster, characterized by profitable farming operations, a thriving hub of food processing, food retail and food service businesses, extensive research capacity, innovative technology, and a wide range of healthy and safe products.

Many FBP companies have already recognized the advantages of establishing their business operations within Halton Hills and have become key players in the Town’s economy:

  • BFG Canada: manufactures 50 varieties of private label and gourmet snack crackers.

  • Saputo/Neilson Dairy: one of the top 10 dairy processors in the world.

  • Cargill Chocolate: global supplier of high-quality cocoa and chocolate products.

  • P&H Milling Group: largest Canadian-owned milling company.

  • Pixtar Canada: processes nitrate, hormone, preservative and additive-free chickens.

  • Kraft Heinz: located its Canadian distribution hub in Halton Hills' Premier Gateway.
